The confidence interval looks like it would be 14 - 16 on this, so a 30 point swing isn’t good, but the biggest overall problem is probably the selection bias of creating a cumulative dose sub group.

What they may have discovered is that people who lived subsequently lived long enough to take more HCQ and are skewed into the high cumulative dose group. Did they live because they took a high cumulative dose, or did they take a high cumulative dose because they lived?

You would need a trial with a few hundred patients in the experiment and the placebo control groups to tell the difference.
