It's my understanding that it was a new idea that Cain was using with our pitchers. After seeing it, Williams advised the players not to use it. They did anyway. It really blew up when a female adviser was not allowed to sit in when a meeting was held about the situation. Then came a Title IX complaint. And it looks like Williams ended up being the scapegoat. This is what I was told by several reliable sources.

Small world, Cain grew up in the town next to me played many sports against him, and his late brother Joe. I forgot he was the root of those issues

He was the guy who lost his job not the only person involved for sure . I heard a couple of versions of what happened along with who was there and what happened afterward. I think that is most likely part of it but I would not hold my breath waiting for Bass or Scalf to speak on it . Scalf did a great job with the program but not with this situation .
Myers has done a good job and the team is capable of a big year in 22.

Much ado about nothing. The sensitivities of a few resulted in an overblown reaction. Removal came from the top. Bass and Scalf had no say so in the decision. They had handled it internally, took all the proper steps, but it wasn't good enough.
