RE: Bragga is OUT Per Kendall Rogers
I would try and determine which coaches can best play to our strengths. I would list our strengths as follows:

1. You can play and train outdoors for baseball all year in Houston. Northern cities just do not have that (and it is amazing that schools like Michigan can attract kids when they cannot get a comfortable home game until late April).
2. Texas and the Houston area is one of the best recruiting grounds for baseball in the country. I would guess it is top 10 easily, and maybe top 5. There is just a lot of talent within an hour's drive (non-rush hour) of Rice.
3. We are one of the best academic institutions in the country, so if baseball doesn't work out for any reason (pop goes the knee or shoulder), you can have a Rice degree, if you work for it.
4. (Assumption here-do not know this for sure). We have one of the nicer home fields and settings in college, to play in.

I hate to say this, but our "long tradition of great baseball and putting players in the pros" is probably too stale now, for the average kid we are recruiting. We won the CWS in 2003; a kid who is a 9th grader and just getting interested in the college recruiting process wasn't even born then. That would even apply to HS seniors.
