DII call ups are not who the Dakotas want to play football with. Schools like St Cloud St (no football) and Augustana (willing to do Pioneer League football) are the types of potential members I think the Summit should be focusing on.

I think Minnesota St is a possibility, but the move up probably will cost them their football team as it did Omaha.

The Summit could also take on the MVC schools as FB affiliates. Would allow for Youngstown to be dropped, if desired, as they are a flight for pretty much everyone (or at least they should be).

The MVC schools in the MVFC benefit by creating stability within the Summit League. And they don't care that much about FB anyway.

The MVC schools aren’t going to become Summit affiliates:

UNI
Mizz St
Illinois St
SIU
Indiana St
Murray St

They’ve got the 6 they need for their own autobid—they could just as easily dump the Dakota 4 and sponsor football as the MVC with YSU as their lone affiliate.

I’ve got to agree there. I don’t think they’d dump the Dakota schools, but the MVC schools are going to much more collective leverage compared to the Summit League.
