See I was thinking that might be the hold up. Arizona State might not be ready to announce a hockey affiliation until they know whether they are going to be in the Pac 12 for the foreseeable future. Perhaps the NCHC is still in the mix.

If ASU is offered a Big Ten hockey invite, they will scream "YES" within two seconds regardless of what's going on with the Pac-12. It's not even a question.

Right. But if such an invitation were contingent on a more general invitation to the Big Ten, then sitting tight for now would make sense.
