Stonehill already had hockey. They moved their entire athletic department to Division I, so hockey comes with.

And to answer question two, they have about 4 scholarships, off campus municipal rinks, and no hope of success on a national scale.

That's not the case for every small school adding hockey though. You like to discount smaller programs, but do you do the same for say, Maine basketball? Guessing you count them as a legit D1 program while they don't really have a chance for national success either. I think you're kinda being unfair to new programs to justify your initial post in this thread. Look at AIC - they have historically been one of the poorest and worst programs in the country but look where they are now...
