There would be so much less criminality if people weren't denied the social services they need, and so much less need for potentially violent police interventions. Much like health care, there should be more emphasis on prevention than waiting for problems to arise, resulting in worse outcomes and mass incarceration. More social work up front would reduce the need for the paramilitary policing we have today.
