NIU has been #4 or 5 in MAC recruiting the past four season. They now have two MACCs since UT won in 2017. The Portal is now playing a big role unless you are a top program.

I would not pay great attention to 247 data, as they have lots of errors. In this case, they don't list transfers Ocasio and Fuller, who were transfers up from lower divisions, and they don't include any of the transfers in the class ratings as far as I know. UT lost 2 highly rated recruits the last week before signing, and Marshall who is also highly rated did not sign for unknown reasons. Probably would have been the #1 class with those 3.

That being said, clearly the class ratings don't mean diddly-squat in predicting how the teams are going to perform on the field based on the last few years, so I would not worry about them. Also, if you look at who the top UT players have been the last, say, 10 years, very few of them were highly rated coming out of high school.
