Quote:To start, experts say, power generators and regulators failed to heed the lessons of 2011 — or for that matter, 1989. In the aftermath of the Super Bowl Sunday blackout a decade ago, federal energy officials warned the grid manager, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas or ERCOT, that Texas power plants had failed to adequately weatherize facilities to protect against cold weather.

A federal report that summer recommended steps including installing heating elements around pipes and increasing the amount of reserve power available before storms, noting many of those same warnings were issued after similar blackouts 22 years earlier and had gone unheeded.
Texas grid fails to weatherize, repeats mistake feds cited 10 years ago

It's time to wake up and grow up. Buffet, Gates, and the like push green energy. Why? Their investment corporations buy the stock in these unproven industries, lobby for it through their paid minions in Washington and popularize the notions getting some states to buy in. The lowball cheap initial offerings of these companies shoot up and they sell and make money, or push some more to try to drive it to even higher profits before they sell. Buffet once pulled political strings to make sure there was no more government funds for railroads then he bought them on the cheap and suggested their improvement for infrastructure on shipping. They got where they are by pressuring for the weakening of industries they want to buy, buying them, and then repurposing them. Or they buy the obscure and use their media holdings to promote them.

The Green New Deal is a boondoggle for the billionaires to use to soak the public and for 3rd World Countries to ignore while the West is taxed over them. It's all socialist crap or a billionaires scam.

We will have cheap clean energy through fusion as soon as the money whores feel like they can't get another nickel out of old sources, or scam remedies, and not a moment sooner.

It's like the cure for cancer. If we had one would the medical industry that profits greatly by its prolonged treatments, pharmaceuticals, and radiology equipment want to retool or worse end such a misery enhancing yet profitable enterprise? Hell no! They are getting billions in donations to find a cure, so why find one! Make the medical industry pay for the current cancer treatments and they start looking for a cure tomorrow. Quit pumping money into "Green Renewable Sources" which can't supply the grid and work in fusion will rapidly advance. But as long as the Power Companies and the Billionaires Barnum club continues we all get soaked. The lefts heroes are crooks and the rights heroes are ensconced yet antiquated money producers. We are screwed either way because innovation is not wanted by either.

Nice screed. Not sure what this has to do with Texas ******* up by not being prepared...AGAIN...for cold weather, but whatever floats your boat.

The point lost upon the obtuse is that governments don't prepare for occasional natural disasters, though they should, because they are too busy pandering to the poppycock ideas of those greasing their palms, and in that regard Texas is no different than the other 49 states. You get more of what you subsidize and notoriously subsidize fads.

And my point is that the Earth is billions of years old, routinely goes through rapid warming streaks and ice ages, and does so because of the orbit of solar systems within the galaxy, and galaxy's positioning within the universe and thinking that mankind's carbon footprint can even compare is truly the equivalent of thinking humanity is so important that a whirlwind will stop or start because of mankind's fart. And the last sentence sums up every dumb*** liberal idea I've ever read.

Liberals think the world revolves around them and that they can impact it. Conservatives think they can prevent calamity. These are opposite sides of the same coin of hubris and folly. The best humanity can hope to do is to find a new home before our sun goes Supernova. We won't do that if we remain worried about how we can keep political power by using the slowest and the poorest as our excuse not to fully fund and pursue a way off the globe.

In the end the only game for humanity is finding a way off what we readily accept to be a finite orb. Our political, financial, and moral power amounts to nothing more than a waste of time otherwise. The time seems reasonably like forever to us because it dwarfs a lifetime but our sun is almost halfway through its life expectancy and there are no guarantees it will last as long as the average of its size and composition. So we dawdle while time ticks.

I find it comical that nations spend so much trying to defend their positions in the world when all of it ends. The winner will be the culture to colonize another, younger, solar system. The rest is insignificant to the bigger picture, though morality is productive in practice and faith is sobering.
Damn dude

You're on
