This is my question about this whole thing.

Either about 50% of an established, multi-bid basketball league is going to voluntarily head to single bid conferences, or this cabal of schools (most of whom are not members of said conference) are going to somehow eject a large number of members in good standing from the A-10.

Schools that are full members of Division 1 conferences don't get kicked out. It's basically a contractual impossibility. We've seen single sport affiliates get the boot (UMass football, Temple football), but that is much easier as there is usually just a contractual relationship that does not run as deep as full membership. The WAC has had trouble shaking Chicago State, and word is that CSU is only operating on a year-to-year contract.

The only example that even comes close to an unqualified, full member of a conference getting involuntarily removed is the St. Thomas debacle, and even at the D-3 level that involved every other member of the conference being prepared to withdraw and start a brand new conference leaving UST as a membership of one, which lead UST to "involuntarily withdraw." And that is only possible at the D-3 level that does not have multi-year media contracts.

This whole thing is a legal non-starter. If you want a new G5 conference, you aren't going to be able to get there through the A-10.
