I think you meant South Alabama here and I agree. I think this 12 has enough prowess to actually send a champion to NY6 since UAB and Marshall are regularly seeing or on the horizon or the Top 25. This season alone there would have been 5 of 12 teams in Top 25 with Arkansas St and Troy on down years and Southern a little lower than normal.

Yep. I did. This is assuming TXST joins the other four Texas schools in CUSA

I just looked up distances between UAB and Troy to the other 10 proposed teams. From Birmingham to 7 of them you can get there faster than Troy. The 3 Troy is faster to are marginal differences of like 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

I think in this scenario it would be which side does Troy & UAB desire more? If we did cross division rivalries and UAB was given USM would they prefer the SBC East + Marshall with OR SBC West teams and Ga State protected? South & Troy will be protected in this case therefore UAB would be on rotation. Could play them OOC still I guess. I think UNC & NC St did that once for ACC play.

Interesting to think about.
