They were the first to speak up and tell Boise they could kick rocks when they asked for special treatment before the OBE completed its transformation to the AAC. I would say that is heavy influence on why the AAC did absolutely zero to help move Boise move football only to the conference. If you can't make here on your own and take an equal share, while making an equal push, then you aren't invited, that has a lot to do with the tone set when the conference was first formed. The AAC lost the plot some with the Big Xii nonsense but have been pretty consistent with it since.

Navy playing a yearly game against Boise State makes about as much sense as Hawaii playing ECU on a yearly basis. Perhaps that's why they don't care for some of this mountain expansion this board is gaga over?

Navy is in the AAC and the AAC west specifically because it is a national program and wants to maintain that profile. Remember they are recruiting for the Navy not a university. It's why they agree to play Notre Dame at neutral locations for home games (and the extra money of course). Admittedly Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee are big time locations for military service and I'm not sure Idaho is, but I doubt that would cause them to change. They also prefer being with the private schools who all feel similar about Navy. Besides that would allow Memphis to move east for the obvious Cincy rivalry and the growing rivalry with UCF. Of course no divisions would still allow for most of that and no Boise every year, but really no matter who would be playing Boise it makes no geographical sense, coming from a Tulsa fan who shared a conference with them.

Air Force is by far the better choice if we could pick them off and it frees up an out of conference game for both AFA and Navy. Boise is a better name and program but AFA is national, Denver is better than Boise, the geography is better and the performance is pretty good.
