I don't know how interested the existing FBS conferences are in bringing back the WAC. So that rule could disappear in 2021 as quickly as it appeared in 2011.

Why would the existing FBS conferences care one way or another? If anything the P5 conferences, especially the Pac12, would probably welcome it to give them more regional FBS OOC opportunities than the MWC.

The P5 might not care, but the G5 would.

1. Associating with this group would make the G5 look bad.
2. It would drive buy game prices down.
3. It could increase recruiting competition
4. It would divide up the CFP money pie up even more and so the G5 schools would get less.

But to go back to an earlier argument I made....does the G5 really want to deal with the ramifications of being seen as hypocrites claiming the P5 is excluding them while they exclude the WAC?

What ramifications are there?

Legal, for one thing. Hard to sue someone for something you are doing yourself and win.

Political ramifications. While these schools don't have massive fanbases they do have them and all it takes is a couple complaints to congressmen and/or Senators for there to be problems. There could be state level political ramifications as well, especially in Texas.
