I’m sure a new conference would get a slice. Instead of the G5 money being split 5 ways, it’d be split 6 ways. Each G5 would get about 3.33% less.

The CFP monies can't be doled out to a conference which doesn't have football (yet). And I doubt the next contract will be amended midway through to let the WAC get a piece of the pie. Unless they get to FBS status by the time the new contract kicks in, they're likely getting the shaft.

I agree that it’s not gonna happen. I think we see more FBS to FCS before a new FBS conference.

The existing contract goes through thr 2025-2026 season, right?
The WAC said that they hope to be FBS "later this decade".

WAC starts FCS conference in 2022 with plan to move up. The current FCS schools only need a couple of years to reclassify and it holds the FBS "golden ticket" So why couldn't they come back to the table during those contract negotiations?

1) I’m not sure what all the requirements are (for the conference and each school individually) to make the jump but I’m incredibly skeptical that it could happen that quickly, especially with a couple schools that still aren’t eligible FCS members.
2) I’m not sure it’s a good idea for the conference yet. Moving too quickly is a recipe for disaster without the proper athletic and monetary infrastructure. It would only lead to schools having to drop back down a level or two or drop football altogether.
