Ohio State hasn't made the championship game in 6 years (first year of the CFP, 2014 season, January 2015) and hasn't played Alabama since the Sugar Bowl New Year's Day 2015. They didn't even make the Playoff two of the last four years. Fans shouldn't be as sick of Ohio State as they are of Alabama and Clemson. I thought Ohio State "saved" college football this year. I didn't want to see another damn Alabama/Clemson championship game. People who were fatigued over Ohio State were unfair to them.

Alabama has the most championships, but Ohio St. has been the top program since the BCS era. They have been in the hunt nearly every single year. Ohio St. getting in with special rules and only 6 games was a threat to college football.

Ohio St has been the top program in the BCS/CFP era? Yes they have 10 more wins, but Alabama has 6 titles to only 2 for Ohio St. That is way more important than 10 wins.

I do agree Ohio St getting in this year was problematic and probably a lot of folks tuned out as a result.
Folks tune out because they're tired of the same team winning all the time. I heard from a lot of people that they were done with the NFL last year if the Patriots won again. I imagine you're seeing a decline in viewership outside of the Deep South. If college football's going to be as regional as college baseball or wrestling, then why bother watching if you're outside of said region?

The Pac-12 in particular, but the Big 12 and Big 10 are getting to be like the MAC, where you're just playing for a conference title and hoping good things happen after that. You can't compete with the South and ESPN spending fall Saturdays giving weekly recruiting pitches for the SEC.
