I think it’s still footprint. For Troy it would take 2 less hours to drive to Marshall than Texas State. 9.5 vs 11.5 hours. It’s also a shorter distance to get to Marshall from Jonesboro than San Marcos and that’s a divisional game. It helps since Marshall is close to the KY line. UAB is a no go. I can’t see the Belt wanting 3 teams from one state plus it would seem that UAB fans want the AAC vs Belt or even to stay in the CUSA.

UAb basketball deserves better then the current CUSA, you could also look at the recent football success being a result of a watered down current lineup of CUSA. There is a reason Bill Clark hasn’t been talked about more then he is after taking that program to 2 conference championships.

With UAb’s basketball history, they should be dominating that conference, and they just aren’t.

Yeah I’ve always wondered why BC is NEVER mentioned with the P5 coaching jobs. I don’t mind the idea of UAB. I just assumed the Sun Belt would want to add MTSU or WKU back so they have more state represented. I won’t argue playing UAB yearly as a divisional opponent though haha but I just don’t think they would accept the invite. I mean the Belt second locked game with USM yearly as have an incentive on the board.

Again I don’t actually see this happening any time soon so I guess it doesn’t matter.
