This is why Liberty is such a difficult topic on these boards----it always ends up veering into politics. So enough with the politics or the thread will be shut down. Suffice it to say the NCAA recognized that political and religious issues were a problem for Liberty in ever obtaining the required FBS conference invitation that was the key to moving from FCS to FBS. The NCAA knew if Liberty ever challenged the NCAA "conference invite" requirement involving teams moving to FBS---Liberty would almost certainly win on Constitutional issues. That's why the NCAA opted to give Liberty a waiver to move up to FBS without the required conference invite. Right or wrong---the same general conditions that prevented Liberty from obtaining a FBS conference invite before have not really changed. It is what it is.

Beyond that--this conversation will have to move off of the political angle or that will be the end of this thread.
