Gave up long ago expecting a freshman to be a key ingredient, especially early in the season, for a Kent basketball team ... JWalker was the exception to the rule, his fellow freshman, JAvery didn't emerge until much later.

That said, I've always believed VCD would sadly be judged by his Ohio POY notoriety not his true talent level. Remember, he wasn't very highly recruited. No A10s or CUSA teams went after him. Kent/Toledo were his best offers.

My guess (much like the other Columbus kid that left the team after his sophomore year) is VCD used his size/girth it high school that's neutralized on the college level. The challenge for him/Kent now is to see how much 'skill' he has that will translate, then find a position.

Have 'heard' he's coachable and a gym rat, so there is hope ... but probably not as a freshman.

Personally, would rather see more of EBainbridge and KBennett getting into the rotation that VCD.

If you hold your breath waiting on K Bennett to get into the rotation you are going to pass out. He's not going to make it. I am not saying he will get run off, but he's never going to be a guy that will get steady min. He is in above his head.
