No tears for Sparty. The egregious events that occurred in that athletic department were a disgrace to both athletics and a major research university. I think MSU's best days are behind it in athletics for the foreseeable future as other B10 programs begin to rise in the Spartans' absence from contention in basketball and football.

For a conference that puts itself on a pedestal, the Big Ten sure has had a lot of ugly scandals over the past decade. Most of the riff raff has been in the Big Ten East. Michigan State, Ohio State, and Penn State have all had sexual abuse scandals, plus the player death/DJ Durkin stuff at Maryland.

No doubt about it--these schools seem to be Teflon coated. If any of the scandals you listed occurred at UC, our program would instantly be labeled as "dirty" or that UC can only win by "cheating" or "bending the rules" or "taking chances on student athletes of questionable character" that better schools passed over. The hypocrisy of myopic fanbases is often breathtaking.
