wow, mastering one side in his 2nd(top 5 with freshmen) and 3rd year in coaching. Some would think that's impressive. Feel pretty good about the other side coming along, too.

convos with you have become dull and lack any introspective by you ... pennys offense is a big question mark whether or not you want to admit it...

this isnt a debatably topic, its just fact.....

Penny's philosophy on offense has pretty much always been giving a lot of freedom. Play hard on defense, he'll give you freedom on offense. Occasionally, he'll reign them in. It's mainly about decision making and shot making. NBA type offense. Players love the freedom, but for the young guys, it just takes time to gel. Young guys are growing up. I wish this group would slow down a little. We don't seem to have good finishers at the rim, for whatever reason. It's really about players finally understanding their roles. Theiir strengths. Penny started with a roster full of freshmen and they are starting to grow up. I personally feel Wiseman not playing set this whole program back. I feel had he played, the entire group would have won alot more games, much more confidence, more of an understanding of their roles. Some of these guys came to play with Wiseman. Just my opinion

on the penny side, he publicly admitted 2 months ago that he wasnt sure what memphis was running on offense a lot of the times and had to defer to the assistant .. then said he was just going to be running what he was running in high school since he is familar with that...

both those statements are very yikes in regard to getting the belief in his offense

remove the whole coaching aspect.. i dont think it has anything to do with wiseman or the fact that your players are young...i have personally been saying this for 2 years that the type of players memphis gets doesnt fit the system he wants to run...

to run a super fast paced system you need tons of guards that are great of bounce, and create tons of shots of the dribble. the key to an offense like that is te ability to beat players of the dribble, forcing switches and creating open shots..
against good defense on a one on one basis, there isnt a single player on memphis i feel could beat a top tier defender... nolley, jeffries and lester are really tall so they can shoot over but that's not the same thing .. memphis has an almost elite ability to get really tall players with guard skills, but not getting guards with great ball skills... bama who runs a similar system, who also has really young guards, has a roster to more fit the system

let me be clear so im saying isnt twisted... im not saying memphis has a bad roster.. memphis has an elite roster, im saying the scheme doesnt fit the roster.. memphis current roster on something like mick cronin old scheme, has probably already locked up a 4 seed (that thrives on height and athleticism, less on pace on ball skills)

Bama starts 3 seniors, 2 of which are guards
