IMO, the five-year extension was thus premature.

Problem is that the Memphis admin considers themselves burned attempting to hire a coach who could actually coach & reverted to their #1 priority, selling tickets. Penny served that priority well, he has sold more season tickets than Tubby or Pastner before him by a large margin. So Penny will be our coach for as long as fans by tickets - that is the only important criteria at this point....... and Penny unfortunately gets a Covid pass this season.

How many more ugly losses to Tulsa do you think those people buying the tickets have left in them? I hope that answer is 5 years worth... cause if it’s not then you’re sitting on a dumpster fire as Penny’s recruiting will eventually tank when his coaching deficiencies become clearer to recruits.

I'd say they'll buy those tickets for about 2 more years. And they won't be happy about buying them that last year. They'll be regretting the cost of the last couple of 3 years of that contract.(Unless he can find a fancy new assistant to do his coaching for him.)
