Just because Penny is bad doesn't mean that Tubby wasn't a train wreck at Memphis. It could be that its was two straight bad hires.

I personally believe that had Memphis stuck with tubby, Memphis would be a far better team right now.

Penny sells tickets, at least he used to, but he’s an awful offensive coach which is weird for a former PG.

He has tons of talent. But it shows it’s pointless with out good coaching.

There is nothing more disappointing then AAC basketball in the non conference

Tubby's issue was recruiting and awful results. His incoming recruiting class was low major level including a player that was only recruited by D2 programs. We overcorrected and hired a guy who can recruit but not coach. Both of those hires were probably over corrections based on the previous coach(Tubby to Pastner and Penny to Tubby).

If Tubby had stayed as coach we would be just as bad. He is not justified in his awful results and horrible recruiting bc his successor is awful at coaching.

After Tubby we should've probably had the balls to hire Steve Forbes.
