I don't disagree with putting player safety ahead of the game and certainly $$$. The Clemson player that tested positive had been showing symptoms during the week but had also been tested twice with negative results. We all know that many of the COVID symptoms are the same symptoms you see with colds and flu so I can see where Clemson relied on the tests in lieu of isolating the player - in hindsight, probably not the best decision. And I don't fault FSU for using this as a way to keep their players safe while at the same time probably avoiding an embarrassing loss. If Clemson was in the same position, they may have done the same thing. But to think that avoiding an embarrassing loss was not a factor in this decision is probably unreasonable as well. If (and of course there is no way of knowing for sure) FSU was 7-1 or 6-2 and ranked, I'd be willing to bet that the decision to play or not play would have been different. Just one more abnormal thing to chalk up to the very unusual year that has been 2020.
