Here is a perfect example of the opposite...

I worked at Merrill Lynch with a young man named Bill Farish. For anyone who doesn't know, William Stamps Farish IV 'carried Bush Sr's wallet' during his presidency... and Sr spent a lot of time at the Farish ranch in Texas during his presidency. The guy made 2k/month to start. We all laughed when he got his first car after returning from DC where he didn't need a car... a Volvo for $399/mo including all maintenance for the 3 year term. He could have afforded anything he wanted, but not on 2k/mo (before taxes). How many single 20 something year old wealthy people do you know who drive volvos? I don't know what he made as an aide to Sr, but I'm sure it was disclosed publicly.
