I'm fine with the ranking but it just shows you the parity in FBS when a G5 bottom dweller can threaten a Top 20 team.

Back in the day when the champs were all assigned major bowl games, played each other and THEN a champion was declared wasn't a bad system because it wasn't completely dependent on who you played in the regular season.

Go back to a 10 major bowl game system. Have the PAC/B1G and SEC/XII play each other while 6 conferences have to play a #2 or #3 team from those 4. There would be no guarantee the PAC/B1G or SEC/XII would produce a title contender out of those conferences. You could get a 10-3 out of the PAC so it would be like playing a #2 or #3 from the SEC.
