Hell no. The WCC doesn’t want SU because they suck.

I am saying that UNM isn’t as valuable to the MWC as Gonzaga is to the WCC. If Gonzaga wanted St Martins Tech at Missoula, the rest of the WCC would likely acquiesce and keep them happy. UNM sucks at both football and basketball now. They’re in no position to “keep out” NMSU or anyone else.

Ah, I thought you were comparing NMSU’s situation to SU’s. My bad.

I mostly agree with you. Currently, NMSU doesn’t move the needle in the Mountain West enough for anyone to stand up for us.

And, that is in part because the State has put most of its eggs in UNM's and Albuquerque's basketball. NMSU can't move the needle without state funding and local industries with the money to invest in NMSU. And, that goes beyond just sports.

Call me crazy but state funding explicitly for athletics is kind of ****** up.

It's for capital improvements such as facilities. A University needs all the bell and whistles if it wants to keep with the Jones; recruiting, etc.
