No the Big Sky is not talking about expanding. And if it did, it wouldn't be for Dixie State. We'd take UC-Davis and/or Cal Poly, but there is no reason for them to leave the Big West.

BSC should boot the FB-only members to the WAC football conference.

There is a possibility of a non-affiliate FCS football conference emerging; much like how the Missouri Valley Football Conference is not affiliated with the Missouri Valley Conference. Six to eight football playing schools could form a new football conference not affiliated to the WAC; or any Olympic sports conference. Southern Utah, Dixie State, Tarleton State, Cal Poly, UC Davis, UC San Diego, West Texas A&M, among others could possibly form a new FCS conference; not affiliated to the WAC. This way, UC Davis, Cal Poly, and UC San Diego could remain in the Big West. Whereas Dixie State, SUU, Tarleton State, West Texas A&M would compete in other sports in the WAC.

Thanks for this coherent post. So much nonsense, that many are taking as gospel, being posted right now. IIRC, Mario Moccia said that if the WAC forms a football conference (FCS or FBS), all members must be full members. Once established, they can add affiliate members. But they need the minimum amount of members (is it 6?) at the outset to all be full members. That would seem to imply 3 possible scenarios:

1. Six full time FCS WAC members. Form an FCS conference.
2. Six full time FBS WAC members. Form an FBS conference.
3. Create something like the MVFC (WAFC; like Pistol so eloquently points out) where all 6 members only play football (FCS or FBS) and play their Oly sports elsewhere (Big West, WAC, etc.).

Option 3 is the only one that makes sense without forcing NMSU's hand. I assume they are sticking to their FBS guns so a "true" WAC FB conference would force them to leave the WAC and go Indy for FB.
