It is with much pain that I type #10... Last season I took a lot of heat over my North Texas prediction, and rightfully so. It blew up in my face. So, I took some time over our long COVID break and tried to figure out what went wrong. I basically reverse engineered my formula until it produced the closest possible prediction to the actual conference standings from 2019, and then applied the formula to the 2020 season. Will that lead to a 100% accuracy on my predictions? Probably not, but if I can get to a 90% accuracy I can live with that. There are always a lot of moving parts to the season, and all the variables cannot be predicted. These predictions just reflect by best understanding at the time.

North Texas had a terrible season last year, and while they have improved their recruiting, those players are still mostly freshman and sophomores. According to my formula, there are some programs on our schedule that should put nasty beatings on the Mean Green this year. New coordinators on both sides of the ball, plus a new special teams coordinator, means there is a lot of change to implement with limited time to do it. Plus, UNT is also trying to find a QB. None of the back-ups from last season stood out when given reps last season. A good ground game and an improving front 7 on defense should not be enough to get North Texas a winning record.

I’m expecting there to be special rules in regards to Covid including a ban on spitting on opposing players so NT might do fairly better.

Indeed - it certainly inspired our players to win after spotting ntx 28 points. I bet that punk regrets the loss of his saliva. I remember thinking it’s going to be a long ride home for those pricks after that loss. I slept exceptionally well after returning home from the game.
