I'm just trying to figure out how Troy wound up in that bunch?
Since 2000, Troy has beaten LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Mississippi State.... won the Sun Belt title 6 times.... ranked in the Top 25.... and out of 64 total G5 teams, Troy has been averaging in the Top 20 in attendance since 2016....
I mean geez, not even UNC-Charlotte made the FCS list? What?? Come on now...
You really think he looked back at everyone's schedule since 2000? He probably just looked at last year's standings. It wasn't between yall and Charlotte or the directional Michigan schools. Troy would only fit in with the Sun Belt or Deep South conferences. With the Arkansas schools, Louisiana Schools, Mississippi schools, and then Alabama and Auburn, there was no more room left in the Sun Belt for Troy, USA, or ULM. That leaves the deep South. Troy and USA was left out because Georgia Southern, Georgia St, FAU, FIU,and UAB were picked over them. Why am I even trying to explain something that doesn't matter like this?
Nah I think the calculation was driven by the overall potential of each university utilizing historically based performance data by calculating the mean variance allowance using the monte carlo monkey math method.
From the article:
Here’s the Forde Bowl Subdivision lineup (FBS Profile Rank is a 1–120 metric that combines a school’s five-year average Sagarin football ranking; its 2020 U.S. News & World Report National University ranking; and its 2018–19 Learfield Cup all-sports ranking):
