I despise the efforts of people unaffected by the Tribe nickname trying to find a reason for it to be offensive. I played against William & Mary when Indians was the nickname and I have no memory of it. My son joined the Tribe and I had no idea the nickname wasn’t always the tribe. Until I found out some white people didn’t like it. Stated multiple times: the college’s own Native American student group wants the name left alone. Just go bark up a real tree. There are plenty to go around that actually matter to the pertinent stakeholders.
