That's exactly right ... 8 for FBS football absolute minimum, 7 for Div 1 basketball autobid, 6 for all other Division 1 sports autbids.

If the Celebration Bowl was continued between the SWAC and the MEAC, then dropping down to 5 would not be critical, since an FCS school can either go to a bowl or go to the championships ... not both.
