Do you support or oppose the unruly populace taking things into their own hands?

I oppose.

I oppose it - I would much prefer people on all sides push for change through legal avenues to address the issues they have.

We have seen, throughout history, that populations eventually take matters into their own hands when their elected (or unelected) leaders don’t listen. This seems to be a situation where a lot of people have felt they weren’t listened to so they’ve decided to act, for better or worse.

Quite often, the elected leaders are right not to "listen" (really meaning "accede"), and the disaffected "population" (typically a small subset) is entirely wrong to take matters into its own hands. The election of 1860 and its aftermath come to mind, but also the Gunpowder Plot, Shays's Rebellion, the Whisky Rebellion, the October Revolution, the Irish Civil War, the Beer Hall Putsch, the Czech coup in 1948, and (perhaps needless to say) nearly every case in history in which the "population" demanded extra-legal punishment of an accused or simply disliked person and the "leaders" did not "listen".
