One can have opinions outside of their area of expertise, as you state. But typically, things I've posted about I've either read about, learned about, or have some other experience with.

You seem to think I said that I wasn't an expert in this, and that's why I am not speaking on it. But that isn't what I said.

On this issue, I have no opinion right now because I literally know nothing about the mechanism of police defunding and nor what exactly is being proposed.

I'm sorry I can't scratch this itch and play boogeyman for you.

No need to be evasive or condescending. "Play bogey man for you"?

See your post:

Quote:I got up this morning looking forward to 93, or lad explaining this to us. What it will be, how it will work. I wonder if their conspicuous absence means they are not proponents of this movement?

Maybe AtEase has a Twitter chain from one of his liberal sources that explains it all? maybe Founty has a gif?

WHY ALL THE SILENCE?

I yelled to get your attention. Seems to have worked.

Whe someone who defends all suddenly goes quiet, it is noticed.

As for AtEase, I am very condescending to his manner of "discourse". Same for Founty. What does that have to do with you? At least you and 93 talk to(with?) me. Or you used to. I will be glad when we get to a topic on which you think you have some expertise. Taxes? Foreign policy? tariffs? Crime prevention? Call back when you have read something.

To the last part, I again wasn’t saying I don’t have expertise in this issue, I have literally no knowledge base to rely on. I don’t understand even the big picture goal of defunding police. As others have alluded to, is this actually an advocation for completely defunding the police, reducing funds, changing names, changing the mission, reorganizing police, etc.

All the other issues I at least have enough of a knowledge base to formulate some thoughts and opinions, even if it isn’t an expertise. And that’s the same for most on this board.

Of course you have a knowledge base. We call it common sense.

Ok, listen. Defunding runs the gamut from completely abolishing the police to cutting their funding in various degrees.

Simple. I don't think you need a CPA or a Ph.D. to figure out the results of either. Any budgeted enterprise from a donut shop to the American military will have to cut services or product with reduced funding. Duh. Try to figure what changes might happen in your work if the budget is cut. Either less workers or less pay, right?

As for complete elimination of the police, there are calls for that. None of them so far address the idea of a replacement.

End of lesson. That wasn't so hard, was it?
