Really?? That's what you read when I wrote this:

For the other three, I would have to know the chain of command. Who was senior, and who was in charge. If one of the other three was senior, he should have intervened. But if they were subordinate to him, then there would be a strong inclination not to interfere. You ever hear a PFC tell a SGT he was doing it wrong?

You literally stated why the chain of command matters by talking about who was senior and asking is I've ever heard of a lower-ranking officer telling a higher-ranking on they were doing it wrong. That is providing a rationale as to why the officer's rank was relevant. How else is that supposed to be taken?

My point is that stop work authority in blue collar jobs is available to anyone, regardless of their level. That is hammered home in safety meetings so that, say, rig hands do not feel like they can't employ it if they see the site manager doing something that could lead to a fatality.

"solely...as a way to legitimize". I am not trying to legitimize anything. I am trying to understand. You are trying to convict in advance. I look at the incident as if I were a juror. America is built on our legal system, which you and most of the other left want to subvert.

There will be trials in courts,, under rules of evidence, not the shrill mob mentality which you defend. The mob mentality that so often in the past has led to injustice.

other officers will be charged

"Crump said Tuesday that he also believes Chauvin will face upgraded charges."If this was you and I, nobody would question first-degree murder," Crump said. "But why is it when a white police officer kills a black person in America, we act like it's such a difficult thing to charge them with what we would be charged with?"

Upgraded to what? I expect the final results to be much less. BUT...This is the narrative - racist cops protected by a racist system. Forecast - more left-wing riots.

"But Ellison, who has been appointed to lead the prosecution of any cases arising from Floyd's death, said Monday that he plans to charge the four officers involved, including Chauvin, to "the highest degree of accountability that the law and the facts will support."

My opinion is that the "highest degree of accountability" will not be enough to satisfy the protesters. But knowing Ellison, he will charge to the maximum and then some. It still won't be enough, and if he reaches too far, he runs the risk of juries returning "not guilty" verdicts.
