What is strange is how non-uniform the impact has been. E.g., we've seen some major schools like Arizona and Michigan announce hundreds-of-millions in losses, and we're all familiar with Akron's situation.

On the other hand, down here in Louisiana, which has always had one of the most poverty-funded university systems, with most schools other than LSU scraping by hand to mouth even during good times, there have been no such announcements - and believe me, when these schools feel a pinch they squawk. The state just used a bunch of Federal relief money to plug holes in the state budget and everything seems fine for this fiscal year, though dire warnings have been sounded about 2021-2022. But that's a year from now.

It's a very uneven situation with some schools being immediately hammered and others not.
