This would be a killer conference at 10 but I would go to 12 add USF and UCF ...

Teams made up of schools connected to I-65/75 or short detours from both. I personally dont think you can get better than that with FB and BB

You are right about the G5 Heartland Conference that could easily be a 2 or 3 bid conference

Your Heartland proposal's pretty sweet. 01-ncaabbs It would be an excellent conference in FB and BB. Don't imagine it ever happens (at least for 5 to 10 years) absent an athletic earthquake! Cincy & Memphis picture themselves a step away from the Cartel 5! They consider MT & Western beneath them in every way. 03-phew Though they don't badmouth Southern Miss or UAB (like they do MT&Western); their only interest in any of the current CUSA or SB schools would be Cost-cutting Transportation; and Ease of Travel for their own Fans!

Absolutely, they would have to swallow a lot of pride to stoop this low. This is likely more reflective of their fan bases than the admin at either school.
