Probably because we all know they don't.

Revenue streams contingent on Akron playing FBS football include the MAC's television contract, BCS revenue sharing, and the ability to easily schedule multiple football games at powerhouses for substantial guarantees. This represents several million dollars of revenue, easily. Moving to an FCS conference like the Missouri Valley would make Akron's budget problem worse, not better, and that's even before we talk about the added visibility Akron gets playing on ESPN a couple times each season.
