I went back and looked at the recruiting history at QB and found a staggering portrait of ineptitude across multiple coaching staffs. The last QB to come in as a freshman recruit, play all four years of his eligibility at NIU and be consistently productive was Jordan Lynch from the 2009 recruiting class. Here's the roster:
2009 Jordan Lynch
2010 Casey Weston - JUCO transfer, one and done
2011 Matt McIntosh - Transferred to SIU for his senior year
2012 Drew Hare - Was here for five years but had bad luck with injuries his junior and senior seasons
2012 Matt Williams - Converted to wideout, transferred to GVSU
2013 Anthony Maddie - Had to sit a year due to his transfer from WMU, was mostly stuck behind Lynch and Hare. Played well when given a chance.
2014 Landon Root - One and done
2014 Ryan Graham - Stayed five years but became incapacitated with injuries.
2015 Santa - Left after his sophomore year
2016 Marcus Childer/Anthony Thompson - Left after their junior years.
2017 Rodney Hall - Converted to receiver and left.
2018 Jiya Wright - One and done
2019 Mariano Valenti - One and done
Didn't Maddie get turned into a WR and had to switch back due to injures and then looked like possibly the best QB on the roster?
I don't think it was even injuries - but yea, he looked like the best on the roster, though he didn't play that many games before he got injured too.
Does this list of QBs remind anyone of a similar list for a local pro sports team?
Gee, I can bearly guess which pro team you are referring to.
