For example, the past season we played eventual national champion UGA, with two 'roughly 'like'' teams (Tulane, Liberty (well, for 2021, anyway)) and one 'lesser' team in JSU...
Instead, for 2026, already have Louisiana and LA-Monroe, which SHOULD be a bit 'lesser' opponents than the typical AAC team (who knows by then) - BUT, instead of a 'body bag' game (lots of $$$, but a hit on the schedule), schedule a few 'mid-range' P5 (sorry, P6! ) like, oh, Arizona and Virginia... work out a H&H with each, and stagger them to get two OOC home games...
yeah, WAY easier said than done, but... Ol' Watson SOMEhow could get not only a good slate of opponents (yeah, I know a lot of it was 'self-preservation' to get enough $$$$ to survive), but he also even got a few to visit us... of course, Zona and UVA wouldn't be a big travel fan base in theory, but, just examples.
Anyway, with us moving up a notch, it would seem like our OOC needs to be a bit 'notched up' as well... now, not sure where you would fit in a game with AAMU or ASU, and I DO like the idea of them as a home game with nice crowds... so - just riffin' here...
I don’t disagree with your desire for the “medium” games instead of the body bag games. Doing that would definitely legitimize out program, i would think. I’m always curious how much we actually get from the body bag games after all the expenses of going there. I’m sure it’s still a nice chunk of change, just not as much as we see when the game is announced.
