In the LA/OC area, you have Cal Poly Pomona and Cal St. Fullerton that are 15-20 miles apart. Cal St. LA and CP Pomona are also about 20 miles from each other. But, none of those campuses are thinking about combining.

67 miles Edinburg to Brownsville. It was an idea driven by people from outside the valley (a) who didn't realize it's not really commuting distance, (b) were taken in by consultants who kept saying location doesn't matter because "Internet", (c ) didn't understand that people's loyalty to their local school can't be reassigned by writing an executive memo telling them to be loyal to something else, and (d) didn't really give a **** about us anyway.

I was told the RGV had about 500K people!! That's a lot of people for just one school to serve! Did Brownsville have an athletics program? What happened to their coaches and players?

Northridge in the Big West is in the San Fernando Valley-which has about 2M people, but of course UCLA and USC are the schools that get the fans and news coverage.

How far is UTRGV to Tarleton?

I would be interesting to put all the LSC and WAC schools on a map and see the mileage chart.

According to Google Tarleton is 7 hours and 17 minutes from UTRGV.

From Tarleton to NMSU is 8 hours 24 minutes. Man these WAC distances are crazy! I thought we had it bad in the Sun Belt.

Looks like the farthest Lone Star school from Tarleton is Western NM at around 10 hours and the farthest Southland school would be Nicholls State at almost 9 hours.

With COVID19 running rampant, every program wants to be in a bus league. However, before COVID19, the one good thing about the WAC was most of the programs were located fairly close to major airports for easy travel. Tarleton State is now the most secluded school in the WAC.

People have been saying the same thing about SFA for decades. They manage. Price you pay for a safe college town environment.
