Severely under-seeded. They only lost 2 games all season entering the tournament (one of which was the A-10 title game against Xavier, after going 16-0 in league play in the regular season), out of a highly competitive A-10 (as usual).

The NCAA seeded them that way, if I remember correctly, because Pops Mensah-Bonsu, one of their top 2 players, was hurt and questionable to play. Of course, he suited up and played 27 minutes.

I've never understood why the committee seeds a team lower based on a player injury. Why is that fair? A team's seed should be based on their performance that season. Period.
They also had a very low SOS(207) and i want to say it was like only 1 top 100 win. It was pretty bad by just about every metric except wins/losses. They only beat like 8 teams that had 15 mins, and 4 of those teams were barely .500. We actually had a higher RPI than them that year 28-37

When you win that many games it washes out a bit. They beat who was on their schedule. 16-0 in league play is damn impressive, whether it’s the ACC, A-10, or SWAC. That team deserved somewhere in the 4-6 seed range.

We deserved a higher seed as well, for sure. There’s no argument to be made that us facing GW in Rd 1 was fair. NEITHER team deserved a matchup like that. Those were both Sweet 16 caliber teams.
