We need enough to know if it's killing a lot of people, some people or not many people. I've only seen anectodes of random cases here and there and then people making a mountain out of that mole hill. So to those who hold these up I ask what is the right number (even an approximation) and what supports it?

Some egg heads out of Yale's Biostatistics department ran an analysis of Covid deaths relative to baseline deaths in a given year. Their conclusion was that there were 28% more deaths during March and May than would be expected if the reported Covid-death toll was accurate. That is to say, they believe deaths are being undercounted quite signficantly.

Obviously this isn't to be taken as gospel, but it's a decent analysis and a good starting point.
