It wasn’t pneumonia. That is what most laypersons think now and that is what most providers were primarily treating at the time.

It was blood clots and related complications. Now, you get admitted with a bad case or with underlying
conditions you get heprinized right off the bat, perhaps you get a regiment of some wonder drug called aspirin. People that may have died just 3 months ago walk out the door now because medicine caught up for a large portion of cases. Reason it’s called the practice of medicine instead of the perfection of medicine.

Good points. I still think there are dangers in overloading hospital capacity. That impacts not only the covid patients but all patients.

I’d generally agree but in the dark days of March and April when healthcare didn’t understand this thing yet and lots of people were dying, not sure we came close to overloading the systems. Perhaps some in NY but that state was almost criminally mismanaged.

Many that would have possibly been admitted in March are also now treating at home. Similar to most regular flu patients. Less are running to the ER believing death is imminent...less practitioners are referring patients as well.

Also, about 35% of new cases that roll into these scary new case stats are asymptomatic.
