Oxford researchers in the UK are fretting about a vaccine because the infection rates are too low to test it. How about this scenario: Damn thing is going to run its course and we will have wasted all those research dollars/time/energy for nothing.

Let’s protect our vulnerable population and get back to business already.

The problem is you can't protect the vulnerable with business as usual. If the low risk groups don't take precautions it's going to spread to vulnerable groups.

Masks (indoors) , limiting mass gatherings, social distancing as best you can ... these are things that will continue to be important even as we open more and more up. Combine those with contact tracing it would be even better. 100,000 dead despite incredible efforts. We need to continue to be vigilant even as we go about more normalized lives.
