RE: Uh-oh: An official at CAA men's tournament tested positive for coronavirus
You’re absolutely being 110% stupid if you think this is all overblown hype. Sure the young and healthy are going to be fine. But if you don’t limit the transmission of this virus then the young go and spread to it to folks who aren’t going to be fine. If you’re over 60 3.6% death rate, over 70, 8% over 80 14.8% death rate. Those aren’t odds I’d like to mess with, id like to keep people’s parents and grandparents alive.
Not to mention the whole point of all of these cancellations is to flatten the curve and make sure hospitals are not being overrun and stressing out our piss poor healthcare services in the states and elsewhere. I have nurses and doctors as friends who are having to read up on their hospitals policy on deciding how to prioritize ventilators for high risk patients when they don’t have enough to go around. So yeah, let’s not say this is being blown out of proportion you’re kidding yourself.
Does this suck? Yeah it does. But you don’t need to listen to the media. Listen to doctors and nurses who fundamentally don’t care about tv ratings, politics or anything but the health of patients. Yes the young won’t die but they can still get severe cases and have enough scar tissue form in their lungs restricting their activity for the rest of their life. Or they can be taking up a spot in the hospital or doctors office for someone else who needs it even for something other than the coronavirus.
Being safe and taking cautions during a global pandemic is not blowing things out of the water it’s being smart especially when things are just going to get worse. Don’t be an idiot.
