Elderly folks with underlying health issues are most vulnerable. What is noteworthy is that no children are dying of this.

Heard from an expert yesterday that it appears that there may be two variants of this virus out there. One is more easily transmissible but rarely fatal while the other is more difficult to pass on to others but is much more deadly. Haven't heard any more on this theory yet.
