It’s an additional full week of games for TV revenue purposes, Northern teams can shift a game that would have been played in cold weather November to a nice summer weather August date and there’s an argument that it’s better for player health to have an additional bye week during the year, too. It’s basically all win-win.

And that’s huge for attendance. August night games sell themselves. Conversely, many people opt for the tv on frigid November Saturday’s.
