The press release says they're trying to expand to 20 teams and creating a new ASun while renaming the old one the UAC. I've read and reread the release and see nothing that even hints that the UAC would be a football-only conference.

cyniclone is right on this one; sorry lion. An FCS fb only league makes zero sense. An all sports league that sponsors FCS is possible though.

All 10 members of the ASUN currently will also be together if this goes through. So, UNA cant be full members in both conferences. So why create a 2nd conference?

The ASUN 7 is just the 7 needed to create the new ASUN.

The UAC will be a holding area (so to speak) for Liberty, UNA and Bellarmine while the new ASUN gets finalized. As soon as that happens, Liberty, UNA and Bellarmine will be formally invited to join the conference.

The UAC will then turn into a FCS football only conference. It will house UNA, KSU, possibly Stetson, the Big South football schools, Monmouth, and possibly others.

But while the transaction is going on, the UAC has to be considered an all sports conference, though it may only be for days. Then it becomes a football only conference.

That makes literally no sense. A-Sun could launch football tomorrow if it wanted.
