Football - AAC or Independence
Basketball (Men & Women) - Big Sky
Baseball - WAC

Staying in the MWC is the easy solution. The Big Sky, which is a football conference that also plays basketball, would get them basically for basketball. The WAC would get them for baseball and woman's swimming and diving. Would the Big Sky actually take them? Boise State would likely be the best team in the basketball in the Big Sky but they don't add a lot. They don't bring a 2nd bid. They won't improve their non-existent national TV package.

Would the WAC take them for baseball only? I am not sure why they would. The WAC needs a D1 school for basketball, but they really don't for baseball. BSU does not bring a 2nd bid to the WAC, either. But BSU does bring another western D1 basketball school, which the Big Sky does not really need. The Big Sky already has 11 basketball programs, all of which also play football in the conference. So, does Boise State join a western FCS conference without baseball or do they join a western Olympic sports conference with baseball?

Im with you, I don’t think they’ll ever leave the MW. It doesn’t make sense on what you wrote that they wouldn’t add a lot to the BS” when they would be the favorite in the conference. That seems like a lot to me. If they came to the WAC they wouldn’t be the favorite. They would absolutely hate the fact that NMSU would keep them from dancing every year. Either way “IF” they would leave, I could see conferences like us and the BS going after them as they bring name recognition. I just think they would go the BS route.

Boise doesn't dominate MW hoops now so why would moving into a conference they can dominate matter?

Because Going to the big dance is every teams goal. Especially for teams that don’t go often. Why would you think they want to come to the WAC and not dominate it?

I get that everyone wants to go to the Dance, but you're making this seem like they are bailing because they can't do that in the MW, which they've done in 2013 and 2015. And they have better odds at making the Dance in the MW (multi-bid conference) compared to either the WAC or BSC. I don't see how being more dominant in hoops would play into which conference they were to chose.

Recruiting wise, doesn’t it sound better saying we go Bowling and Dancing every year. Players come to NMSU for their high odds of going to the tournament. We’ve built tradition on it. Both conferences have a bunch of no names in it. But it would be worse for recruiting if they play no-name state in the WAC and missing the tournament compared to playing no-name team in the BS and making the tournament. If they came to the WAC they would fall to the level of around UVU.
