Apparently, anybody except Burke will have to recruit the players to stay. That's the point if this is true.

We need to step back and listen and think about this. Every player on this roster has played under McGrath and Burke since they arrived at UNCW. We also have players who transferred out of the program who played under both of them as well as a few who played under Keatts as well. Never forget these current and former players are likely still in contact with each other and are still friends. They talk. I would be curious how the players who transferred that played under Keatts feel about Burke as well. They went from the pinnacle of success under a coach to utter failure, so they have seen first hand both really good and really bad coaching. And if they see in Burke what they saw in Keatts, that's important. It's more insight than anyone else would have.

If you are hearing such a strong endorsement from the players, it would be foolish to say that their opinion doesn't matter. Burke is now the 3rd HC at UNCW in the past 2.5 years. Everyone on the roster was recruited by McGrath. Since he left, each one, by rule, would be permitted to transfer without sitting at the end of the season. In hindsight, what if Cacok, Bryce, Talley, Fornes Taylor and all the incoming recurits had made this type of stand about Siddle. And we knew before any coach was interviewed that they felt that strongly that Siddle could keep up what Keatts had started. And, that they WANTED to keep up what Keatts started. Knowing how it turned out going in a completely different direction, would we haev kept Siddle?

Cost/benefit. Is it worth the cost of losing a lot of your current players not knowing how a different coach would do in the CAA as well as how the players will respond to a new coach?

While i see where you are going, and we have some decent pieces here now, it's a bit different. If those players made a stand about Siddle, they would be asking to keep a winning tradition going forward. While Burke has done well so far, these players have all been a part of one of the biggest periods of losing in school history.

Whoa there cowboy. While it's been a miserable 2 1/2 years, it doesn't touch the infamous 10 years. Those 10 years experienced an implosion within the whole program. Involving not just the team, but back stabbing in the department and NCAA sanctions.

As players, all they care about is winning. LAST PLACE last year, last place on the horizon this year, 12 game losing streak this year and were heading for more. NO way on earth they come close against Hofstra and beat NU under McGrath. And no way on earth they would have headed to CofC and won. So, we were on the path to a 14 game losing streak at a minimum, which would have been the longest in UNCW history.
